Welcome to My Website!

This is a place to view the Under-Appreciated Rock Band (UARB) of the Month and Under-Appreciated Rock Artist (UARA) of the Month posts that I have created on my Facebook page over the past several years.   I have begun splicing and dicing the posts for better navigating, so that visitors might more easily view information on Highly Appreciated and Greatly Appreciated Rock Bands and Rock Artists – I have plenty of cool stuff about Bob Dylan, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, Buddy Holly, Link Wray, etc. – as well as the Somewhat Appreciated and the Barely Appreciated (more about that at a later date).   To find out about particular rock artists or rock bands, go to "The Pantheon".  Use the 2009-2010 Index; or, for posts from 2011 forward, it is easier to do the searches Google-style (see "Search this site" above).

"Under-Appreciated Rock Bands" means different things to different people.   In this case, I am not trying to convince anybody that they should like some band or artist more than they already do.   These Under-Appreciated Rock Bands and Under-Appreciated Rock Artists are almost completely unknown; and quite simply, they should not be.   My definition of Under-Appreciated is that there is no article on them in Wikipedia as of yet; except for those of you who really know rock music or are in the music biz, almost all of the rock musicians that you have ever heard of have been written up in Wikipedia.

The reasons for these omissions vary:   No one had gotten around to writing a Wikipedia article yet (the Rip Chords); the bandmembers went on to bigger and better things, though their original band had not yet been described (Trillion); while not unknown in America, they were more popular in their non-English-speaking home country (Les Sinners – French Canada in this case); the band was a one-off between more popular periods for the musicians (the Wanderers, the Breakaways); the musician is reasonably well known as a member of a band though not as a solo artist (Andy Colquhoun); etc.   For my second example, I am at a loss as to why she does not have a Wikipedia article (Wendy Waldman).   Finally, in one instance, I discovered after I was almost through writing the post that there was a Wikipedia article on the band after all, but I completed it anyway (the Piltdown Men).  Mostly though, these rock bands and artists released their singles and albums; and for whatever reason, they did not have a hit.

Enjoy!
