JOE WALSH ![]()
One of the later bandmembers in the James Gang, Joe Walsh became a bonafide superstar and joined the Eagles for a time. His signature solo hit "Life's Been Good" is a dead-on picture of rockstar excess: In the opening verse, Walsh deadpans: "I have a mansion, forget the price / I've never been there, they tell me it's nice". (February 2010) * * * "Are You Ready?" by Pacific, Gas and Electric is a long-time favorite of mine that is more of a straight rock song; it is sort of an analogue to “People Get Ready” by the Impressions. The band was formed in Los Angeles in 1967 with a line-up that included lead guitarist Glenn Schwartz, who was previously in the James Gang; his replacement in that band was future superstar Joe Walsh.
(July 2014) * * * For the past 25 years, Ringo Starr has spent most of his time with Ringo Starr's All Starr Band, which has featured a rotating line-up of some of the finest rock musicians on earth, Levon Helm, Joe Walsh, Nils Lofgren, Billy Squier, and Edgar Winter among them. They are dropping by the Mississippi Gulf Coast in the middle of next month. (September 2014) * * * Nan O'Byrne wrote the lyrics for Black Russian's second single "Mystified" and the flip side of the first single, "Love's Enough"; and she co-wrote the lyrics for two other songs on the album. Nan O'Byrne also co-wrote "You Might Need Somebody" that was a UK hit for Randy Crawford in 1981, and "You Might Need Somebody" was later a hit for Shola Ama in 1997; "You Might Need Somebody" was first recorded by Turley Richards in 1980, and "You Might Need Somebody" was also covered by Joe Walsh.
